Madawaska by The Secret Method / Post-rock / Released Jan 25, 2013
The Secret Method is a part-time post-rock project which began back in 2004 with the first recording Death’s Slow Dance. At the time I had been experimenting with this type of sound, which for me ambled somewhere between Pink Floyd-style progressive rock and something like a moody film soundtrack from the early 80’s.
Over the years, I’ve recorded a number of other songs – instrumental, mostly – to compliment the somber, haunting sound that now defines this project.
The lone album Madawaska is a collection of basement sessions, live jams, 4-track recordings and carefully constructed analogue soundscapes. These 8 songs represent the best of a decade of infrequent exploration. I seem to never find time to focus my efforts on The Secret Method, but these songs, above all projects, remain the most personal and dear to my heart.
The name The Secret Method comes from the children’s book “Danny, the Champion of the World” by Roald Dahl.
